Project funded by the first European funding organisation for excellent frontier research – the European Research Council (ERC) starts today. Project ‘A new class of microtubules in the spindle exerting forces on kinetochores’ will help understanding the mechanism of chromosome segregation, the establishment of proper kinetochore-microtubule attachments and the force balance in the entire spindle.
